Tomorrow marks the
end of an era for those who remember using Netscape as your browser of choice in the 90’s.
Personally, I haven’t used Netscape for about 3 years. Even then I only installed it so I could test how an application that I was implementing behaved using different browsers. That experience also opened my eyes to Firefox, which I have been hooked on ever since. Not really sure why, but it does seem to load pages faster than Internet Explorer, which I still use about 30% of the time.
One of the best things about Firefox is the huge assortment of available plug-ins that it has thanks to it being an open source application. Yesterday, I found this awesome app. called ScribeFire (blog publishing plug-in), that I’m actually testing out right now as I publish this article before heading out for a relaxing dinner with my wife.
Anyhow, if you’re a new subscriber, thanks for joining me. This is probably the most geek focused article I’ve written in the past month. I simply couldn’t help myself…the nastalgia of reminiscing a soon to be forgotten remnant of our past got the best of me.Â
Cheers. I’m sure AOL will be the next relic of our past to announce its end of life date.
