Restaurant Review - Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse Wine Bar

KC and I aren’t real big on corporate-franchise type restaurants, unless we’ve got the kids with us.  Last night we were by ourselves and in the mood for something we could sink our teeth into while celebrating a recent milestone in our lives.

Flemings Prime Steakhouse and Wine BarLiving where we do, our choices are somewhat limited so we settled on Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar in Brookfield, WI.  It wasn’t my first visit to Fleming’s; I had been to their locations in Birmingham, AL and Tampa, FL.  Fortunately they have all been pleasant experiences.

We started off with a bottle of 2004 Simi Merlot.  While neither of us are really big Merlot fans, this one came highly recommended and since I’m a big fan of the Simi winery, we decided that would be a good choice. Simi Merlot 2004

For her main course, KC enjoyed a petit filet mignon (8 oz) coupled with a generous Maine lobster tail.  Judging by what was left over, she enjoyed them both.

I went with the double thick Australian lamb chops (16 oz) which were served with a champagne mint sauce that I could have lived without.

We shared an order of creamed spinach and an order of Fleming’s Potatoes (their house specialty with crème, jalapenos and cheddar).  Probably more food than 2 people really needed to consume in one sitting, but great nonetheless.

Overall, considering the other steakhouses we’ve visited in the past year, I would rate our Fleming’s experience with 3.5 out of 5.
