Real Estate Sign of the Times
We finally sold our house last week after dropping the price a total of 14% off of the original asking price from when we listed it back in June 2007.

This is a picture of the sign that was planted in my front yard 9 months ago. Not only has it suffered some severe fading, but it has practically fallen over on its side. If I was planning to stick around for awhile, I might be concerned that one of my neighbors was going to complain about how shoddy it looks.
As I passed by this sign on my way out this morning, it got me thinking about the state of the real estate market and how that faded, pathetically tired looking for sale sign is a reflection of today’s marketplace and is not unlike the longstanding signs that are cropping up across the US and will soon compete with political campaign yard signs for exposure and attention. Sadly enough, though, the campaign signs will mostly disappear before thanksgiving while the for sale signs continue to linger.
This month promises to be a challenging one for me, which has already shown its impact on my ability to post articles to Jcyreus dot Com as regularly as I would like to. Fortunately, our move will wrap up during the first week of May, which will allow me to get back to a daily publishing schedule.
