About Jason
Jcyreus :: Pronounced [j-seer-ee-uhs]
My given name is Jason Cyr. The name of this site came from an abbreviation of my given name (Jcyr). I have been a disciple of entrepreneurship, project management, Internet strategy and marketing for over 13 years. My latest venture, City Bicycles of Florida (d/b/a
City Bike Tampa) opened in downtown tampa on July 3rd, 2009. This blog serves as a medium to share with my loyal reader base local (Tampa Bay) experiences, professional research notes and insight which welcome feedback anytime.
A few of the things that make my life great:
Family life: I’ve been married since 2002 and enjoying fatherhood for about 11 years. I have to say that these have been the best years of my life.
The impact of the Internet on our struggling economy: Researching and understanding Internet business models, including Internet marketing, start ups, angel investments, VC and buy-outs as well as strategies for predicting and capitalizing on future trends in consumer spending habits.
Entrepreneurship: I have always been fascinated with the challenge of starting and running my own businesses. In late 2008, after returning to Tampa from a 2 year stint in Milwaukee and 3 years before that in Birmingham, AL my wife and I came up with the idea for a sports and fitness business (bike shop) to be located in downtown Tampa. City Bike Tampa features bicycle and other recreational focused rentals, tours, sales, service, parts and accessories.
College Football: I’m admittedly not a good sports writer, so I don’t write about it, but I am a big fan of college football, particularly the USF Bulls (one of my Alma maters) and the UF Gators. Returning back to Tampa last year after several years in Alabama and Wisconsin has given me the priviledge of rooting for the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers once again.
Health & Fitness: I really enjoy bicycling, ice hockey, golf and hope to someday be able to keep up with my wife on the tennis courts.
